Can YOU Escape?: 13 Virtual Counseling Tools for You

When escape rooms came to the Indy area, I thought it was a cute idea, but never found myself with a group of people willing to get locked in a room. But during quarantine, my kids talked me into signing up for a membership box that shipped an escape room type challenge to our door.

I now know that I probably saved myself some embarrassment not going to the escape rooms, because I was not very good at them.

However, we did have a pretty good time, and LOTS of laughter during the failed attempt at saving the spy one evening after dinner, and now I have learned that there are TONS of FREE digital versions of escape rooms many created by libraries and school associations.

These make the perfect digital counseling lesson for a class or small group touching on themes of communication, problem solving, collaboration, self-control and emotional regulation and expression. The timing of these is based upon your discretion of course, but expecting 20-30 minutes would be reasonable if you include time for instructions and reflection too.

Host a class in zoom or project within a classroom. This would also make a great lunchbunch activity too.
